Essentials of Cranial-Sacral Tucson - December 2024

An introductory technique class. Provides an overview of Cranial-Sacral Therapy originated by
Dr. William Garner Sutherland which includes the history of cranial-sacral, anatomy of the
cranium, technique, and presence. We will also explore the location and specific techniques for
the following: sacrum, occiput, sphenoid, temporal bones, parietal bones, and frontal bone.
Tuition includes the publication; Cranial-Sacral Manual. Note: This class introduces some
techniques that can be integrated into your regular massage routine or alone. Need to bring linens and bolster.  

 

Gloria C. Mathiesen, MA, LPC, C-DBT, LMT, E-RYT 200, YACEP, Certified Aromatherapist, Usui Reiki Master/Teacher graduated in 1997 from Irene Gauthier’s Myomassology Institute located in her home state of Michigan. She has been providing therapeutic massage services ever since. She has fine-tuned her bodywork practice to meet the needs of individuals who suffer from chronic pain, trauma, and stress related issues.

     In 2007, Gloria took her massage experience and expertise into the education realm and helped develop and instruct Pima Community College’s Therapeutic Massage Program in Tucson, Arizona as an adjunct faculty member. She continued this journey and became a national provider for NCBTMB in 2010. Gloria has provided continuing education for Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Michigan, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, along with public self-care workshops.

     In addition to her Massage & Bodywork training, Gloria received her MA in Mental Health Counseling from Bowling Green State University, Ohio and is a Licensed Professional Counselor with the state of Ohio and a Licensed Professional Counselor with the state of Arizona. She has also continued her education in the mental health field by receiving certifications in Marriage & Family Therapy, Compulsive & Addictive Behavior, and Play Therapy from Capella University. She currently runs a virtual private practice, specializing in trauma work and has completed a 50-Hour Certification of Completion in EMDR.

     In 2018 she completed a certification program in aromatherapy and in February of 2019 became a registered yoga teacher through Yoga Alliance. All of her modalities, trainings, and studies continue to interweave the connection between the mind and body and how to best build resilience for today’s modern high stress lifestyle.

     Gloria’s passion focuses her development on bridging the mind and body with unique courses and public workshops addressing topics such as PTSD, eating disorders, addiction, chronic pain, and trauma.

    Presented by the Academy of Lymphatic Studies- This 135-hour course certifies therapists in the four components of Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT), which include Manual Lymph Drainage, Compression/Bandaging, Skin Care and Exercises. Participants first complete 45 hours of Home Study online, prior to attending the 90-hour live hands-on classroom time.

  • Smart Stretching Mesa- October 2026 - Mesa

    October 24th - October 25th 2026 , 9am-3:00pm

    Participants will learn to design therapeutic sessions focused on improving clients' functional range of motion based on individual needs. Strategies include integrating stretch therapy into a full-body flow, as well as specific focus methods like Pin and Stretch, Thai Mat Stretching, and Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF). The course will be split into two parts: Day 1 will focus on the upper body, and Day 2 will cover the lower body. Participants must attend both days for full CE credit.

  • Yoga for Massage Therapists Mesa- October 2026 - Mesa

    October 26th 2026, 10am-2pm

    This course is designed for massage therapists looking to integrate the ancient practice of yoga into their bodywork. The class focuses on the therapeutic application of yoga in relation to the physical, spiritual, emotional, and mental bodies. This training is beneficial for both therapists and their clients, as it can aid in managing chronic pain, reducing burnout, and improving overall well-being.

    This 15 hour course is great for an introduction to Thai massage and those looking to refresh their Thai Mat skill set. The course will cover Thai massage history, proper body mechanics, Sen line energetics and anatomically correct stretching.

  • Elevating assessment skills using kinesiology and palpation: Hip Mesa- November 2026 - Mesa

    November 20th 2026, 9am-12pm

    Kinesiology is the study of the mechanics of movement. In this class, we will build on participants’ kinesiology knowledge to explore how understanding how our muscles move can enhance our treatment planning and massage sessions. We will review joint movements, muscle attachments, and movements and strategies to palpate these muscles efficiently. We will use these tools to explore how we can incorporate this knowledge into treatment planning, providing our clients an effective massage session. This course is a series of 6, 3-hour classes broken down into different regions of the body. Participants may choose any number of classes in the series to attend in any order.

  • Advanced MLD - Management of Post Plastic Surgery Procedures Mesa-Dec 2026 - Mesa

    December 4th - December 6th 2026 , 8am - 5pm

    Presented by the Academy of Lymphatic Studies - This course will assist therapists in developing treatment sequences and protocols specific to post surgery of Liposuction, Breast Surgeries, Tummy Tucks, and Brazilian Butt Lifts. This will include and discuss the techniques, contraindications, risk factors, and protocols related to these surgeries.
