Yoga for Depression - Prescott Campus

This self-care course begins with a psychoeducation lecture of what depression is and the difference between sadness and clinical depression.

We will continue with a discussion that focuses on the reduction of tamas and cultivation of sattva which are considered part of up-regulating practices and useful when experiencing under arousal.  A 15-minute yoga sequence will be presented and practiced in a yoga class format.  Aromatherapy tools will also be provided.

Handouts and copies of full yoga sequences tailored for depression will be provided and included in tuition.

    This class will begin with a thorough definition of trauma, including the three types. Next, we will explore the neuroscience involved and what it tells us about the impact of trauma. Last, we will explore the stages of trauma treatment and how massage therapy can be a part of the therapeutic process.
